Alpha
Our second Alpha course is running at the moment. It started at the beginning of February and will finish in April. Every Monday morning at 9.30 the 'Late, Late Breakfast Alpha' is held at Mark James' house; where five ladies, two toddlers, one baby, and our childminder Kathleen Carhart share breakfast. Leaving Kathleen to look after the crèche; we then watch a DVD covering an aspect of the Christian faith, followed by discussion and questions. It is a wonderful way to start the week. We have three more weeks to go on the course, and the ladies have talked about continuing as a group, which is very encouraging.
We have held two Alpha 'Away Days' in the past year, again at Peter's Barn, Barnston, by kind permission of Richard and Erica Nunn. These days are held at the weekend, are part of the course, and give us the opportunity to spend more time together as a group. Last August we also held a Summer Get Together for everyone who had attended the Alpha Course at St. Mary's, and also for all those who had helped or contributed to it in any way. This was very enjoyable, and enabled people from the first two courses to meet. We will be holding another one this year on 13th. July.
We have now held four Alpha Courses at St. Mary's, with a total of twenty-six people attending. The post Alpha home group is growing and is open to all who have been on the course. We have seen those attending Alpha grow in their Christian faith; some coming to church, some going to home groups; all keeping in touch.
We would like to thank Jay Ainge and Henry Goodman once again for their delicious meals, and to Jay and Patrick Whittick for making the tea and washing up; and also to Jo Parker for providing superb food for our November Away Day, and to Kathleen Carhart for running our creche. Our fifth Alpha course is due to start on Thursday, 20th. September at St. Mary's Centre.
