General News for both parishes (unless stated)
ST MARY'S CHRISTINGLE SERVICE. The series of Christmas Services at St Mary's begins with the Christingle Service at 3.00pm TODAY. This is always a very popular Service - but there's still room for more! Encourage your families, friends and neighbours to come and share in this glorious celebration of Christ, the Light of the World.
HOT OFF THE PRESS. The news was announced yesterday that Bishop John Gladwin, Bishop of Chelmsford, is to retire at the end of August 2009. Please pray for him and his wife, Lydia, as they fulfil their duties in the next 8-9 months prior to moving to their new home in Hertfordshire.
THANK YOU from Alex & Jane. As the final preparations were being made for the Funeral Service last Friday of baby Sophie Herbert, I was asked to pass on thanks to everyone at St Andrew's and St Mary's who have been praying for the family and friends over these last four months. You will be pleased to hear that the Service went as well as everyone hoped for.
FAIR TRADE IS BACK - the stall is here in St Mary's today. There will be gifts, crafts, Christmas cards and food.
FAITH IN ACTION's Gifts with a Difference leaflets are now available. Just the inspiration that's needed for the person who has everything! However, please check with Jay about current prices - the recent fall in the value of Sterling has increased the cost of all these Gifts.
CAN YOU HELP TO DISTRIBUTE OUTLOOK IN DUNMOW? We currently need help for High Meadow & South View; Merks Hill; Banks Court; Chelmsford House; and part of Pine Avenue, Woodlands Walk and Cypress Court. If you can offer to do this once a month we shall move towards our target of communicating regularly with every family in Dunmow & Barnston. Offers of help to Patrick Whittick (876404). Thank you.
CHURCHES TOGETHER UNITY SUPPER. January seems a long way off, plans are already being made for the Churches Together Unity Supper on Friday January 16th. The annual event is always a sell-out. The 80 or so £5 tickets go like the proverbial hot cakes. So don't delay - see Pam Cheal as soon as possible, and book your place.
COFFEE ROTA 7th December: Sue & David Walker 14th December: Elaine Peck & Grahame Thomas 21st December: Joy Cash & Iris Harris 28th December: The Friends Committee
