    • On Saturday, 11 February at 7.30 p.m., Amanda Michell, a former chorister of St. Mary’s, Great Dunmow, will be returning to her home town to provide an evening of entertainment. The London based horn player will be joined by other young, talented, professional musicians and the choir of St. Mary’s. The programme will comprise a variety of music composed for the horn as well as a selection of solo vocal and choral music. The programme will feature works by famous composers including Mozart and Strauss alongside works by lesser-known but no less worthy composers.

Amanda is currently pursuing a career as a professional horn player having recently completed her Master of Music Degree at Trinity College of Music, London. Amanda is enjoying working as a freelance musician, having spent the past year gaining experience as a period instrument performer with ensembles such as the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment as well as continuing her development as a modern orchestral horn player. Amanda’s other work has included playing with her brass quintet Lord Nelson Brass, playing on a West End show and a couple of TV appearances.

The proceeds from the concert will be used in the following two ways. A donation will be made to Music and the Deaf, a UK charity which helps the 1 in 7 of the population with a hearing loss to enjoy the world of music. The remainder of the profits will be donated to the St. Mary’s Church Roof Restoration Fund.

The concert starts at 7:30pm Tickets cost £10 each (£6 for school children & students) and are available from The Vicarage (872504).

BAPTISM - TODAY. Our children Thomas and Elizabeth are being baptized today at St. Mary's following the family service. We would love to invite as many people as possible to stay and join with us in celebrating, supporting and welcoming them into the family of Christ. Jane & Lee McKean.

DAVID KERRY is running in the London Marathon next Sunday, and raising funds for the Alexia Wilson Trust. There is a form at the back of St Mary's if you wish to sponsor him. Thank you.

THE NEXT SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE for those at St Mary's and St Andrew's who have been bereaved is next Sunday afternoon (26th April) at 3 pm in St Mary's. As ever, this service gives space for those who have died recently to be remembered. Details are available in both churches, or by telephone from Shirley Walker (872310).

LENT & EASTER APPEAL. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Lent & Easter Collections for the people of Zimbabwe. The absolutely brilliant number of filled Smartie tubes at St Andrew's, and the product (so far) of St Mary's retiring collection amounting to £549.90, are terrific. Thank you very much.

ANOTHER MESSAGE FROM MARK JAMES. Bell ringers from Bentley Common and Great Dunmow will be ringing a peal for the service of collation of Revd Mark James. The ringers plan to start on Wednesday April 29th at 9.45am at St Thomas' Navestock and ring for approximately 3 hours.

THE NOTICES CONCERNING THE ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETINGS are on display. Nominations are now urgently needed for the various Officers. Please pray, seek nominations, pass the suitably signed Nomination Papers to David Ainge, and make plans to come to your appropriate Annual Meeting.

CONCERT TICKETS. The tickets for the May Musical Delight concert on May 9th are now available. For sheer variety, this concert will appeal to every taste. So, don't leave it too late - see Pam, Jo or David Ainge and get your tickets today. This will be the best way of spending £5 this year.
