Just A Thought

Walking in the fields this week with my dog, I was enjoying watching her run happily back and forth and thinking back to the first night she came to us as a puppy.

Like most other puppies she yelped and howled her way through the night, scared of her new surroundings, unsure of us and what her life would be like. Yet I knew what she didn’t, that she would be better loved than she could possibly realise and that we would give her the best and happiest life that she could possibly imagine.

This reminded me of how I approach God sometimes, I stand before him scared and worried about all sorts of things. The state of the world, family issues, the children and their future, health, life in general, unable to see that he loves me more than I know and wants to give me a life beyond anything I can imagine.

A book I have been reading recently talks about wrestling with faith or fear. There are so many things to be afraid of in this world but if we submit to that fear we can become paralysed, and unable to enjoy this wonderful world God has created for us. If we choose instead to have faith, real trust in a God who watches over us, as we watched over our puppy, then our fears lose their power and start to fade.

“So do not fear for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” — Isaiah 41:10
