General News for both parishes (unless stated)

CLOCK WINDER. On January 1st 2010, Mike Saines will retire from his position as official Tower Clock Winder at St Mary's after 27 years' service. The PCC is seeking ways to mechanise this task, but in the meantime we need someone to step into Mike's shoes until the mechanization is complete.

CO-ORDINATOR FOR THE BRASS CLEANING ROTA. Grahame Thomas has stepped down from this role after 15 years in post. We need someone who will continue his good work with immediate effect. The length of responsibility is negotiable!!

CELEBRATION SERVICE. Next Sunday (29th November) the Rev. Peter Street reaches his 50th Anniversary of Ordination. The 6pm Service will be an enormous Celebration with his family, church, town and county well represented. As members of the congregations where he has often ministered, you are all invited to come.

ST ANDREW'S CHRISTMAS BAZAAR. On Saturday December 5th at 2.00pm Barnston Village Hall will be full of all the things you'd expect to see at a Christmas Bazaar - home-made cakes and jams, gifts for Christmas, books, videos & CDs, games for everyone, and Father Christmas. Refreshments will soothe tired bodies, and the proceeds of the Bazaar will help St Andrew's church finances.

ST MARY'S SIDESMENS' ROTAS are now in the pigeon holes. Please collect your copy.

EARLY DECEMBER. The first of December's one-off Services is the Christingle at St Mary's on the 6th December at 3.00pm. This is always extremely popular - but don't let that put you off coming - there will still be lots of room! This is certainly an occasion for children, youngsters and adults of all ages. So come and share in this annual celebration of Jesus, the Light of the World.

PHOTOS FOR THE FIGGS. If anyone didn't manage to get themselves 'snapped' for the Figgs' album, could you send Patrick (patrick@whittick.org.uk) a photo, which I'll add to the album for them? If anyone's interested in seeing the ones we've got so far, please look at http://tinyurl.com/yhmvnqx

COFFEE ROTA 22nd November: Peggy Baines & Iris Harris 29th November: Cynthia & Keith Barber
6th December: Sue & David Walker 13th December: Elaine Peck
