Coincidence, or what?
A twelve year-old girl has a life-threatening illness. Her family, and members of various churches where they have links, pray persistently for her healing for months. Early in January she went for a scan and the doctors announced that there is no sign of the cancer in her body. Her family is overjoyed at this news. A coincidence, or an answer to prayer?
In 2007, the Women’s World Day of Prayer focussed on the country of Paraguay. In 2008 there was a General Election in that country and Fernando Lugo, a former Roman Catholic Bishop, was elected President. For the first time in 65 years it was not a candidate of the Colorado (red) party that won, and yet for once the election was peaceful. A coincidence, or an answer to prayer?
Some time ago, the present Bishop of London was challenged about his claims that God answers prayers. His critics indicated that these so-called answers were no more than mere coincidences. The Bishop said, “You may be right. All I know is that when I stop praying, the coincidences stop happening!”
The people of the churches in Dunmow and Barnston are very willing to join you in praying for the things that are of great concern to you. All you need to do is ask – and then keep your eyes open for possible God-incidences!
