General News for both parishes (unless stated)
ELECTION DAY, THURSDAY 6TH MAY. Let us make this a day of prayer, putting our politicians, ourselves the voters, and the result, into God's hands. At our weekly Thursday morning Holy Communion at 9.30am, we will seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit upon the election. During the remainder of the day until 6pm, St Mary's church will be open for individual prayer. Offers to man the church during this time will be appreciated. A rota is provided at the back of the church.
THERE ARE MORE QUIET GARDEN PROGRAMMES available at the back of the church.
QUIET DAY, WEDNESDAY 12TH MAY. There are still places available for the Angela Morris Quiet Day - "Love bade me welcome: George Herbert's quest for peace of spirit". Details from Rosemary Drew, 872662.
COPPER FLOOR TILES. As part of the very attractive programme of artistic work in association with the Diary of a Country Churchyard, St Mary's is displaying the very attractive copper floor tiles designed by Grenville Davey. When you come forward for Communion you will not fail to see them! Enjoy them while they're here.
CHARITY OF THE YEAR. The Dunmow Stroke Club has been nominated to be one of the Saffron Walden Building Society's Charities of the year. However, the decision to support the Club depends on the local support indicated to the Building Society. This can be done by registering a vote in their High Street office, or on their website www.saffronbs.co.uk/members/community/charities.php and voting there. This is a very easy way of supporting a local charity.
OUTLOOK DELIVERER NEEDED for Spruce Avenue, Great Dunmow from June's edition. Offers of help to Patrick Whittick.
HELP WILL SOON BE NEEDED. On Sunday 27th June the families who have had children baptized since last summer will be coming to a special Party with a Difference - a puppet-led all-action Service followed by games, stories and tea in the Vicarage garden. Adult help will be needed to supervise and serve. Jay Ainge and Mary Jensen are organizing this event, and they'd love to know who will be able to help them on the day. Please let them know as soon as possible if you can help.
