PRAY FOR SCHOOLS COFFEE MORNING, 10am-noon, Wednesday 19th May, 14 Venmore Drive. Do you have a heart for young people? Are you involved in education - parents, students, teachers, midday supervisors, governors? Come and find out or tell us about your local schools so we can all pray more earnestly for our school. Pre-school children welcome.
NEXT SUNDAY EVENING'S SERVICE, May 23rd is Pentecost Sunday. At 6.00pm Rosemary Drew is leading a special Evening Service for Pentecost - the theme of which is the Gifts of the Spirit. This will be a splendid opportunity to thank God for his presence, his Gifts and his power - in a service that will involve familiar uplifting music and opportunities for prayer and study.
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who played a part in the Christian Aid Week activities over this last week. The funds collected are still being counted, but it already appears that the Great Dunmow and Barnston people have been as generous as usual. Well done, and many thanks.
QUIET GARDEN PROGRAMMES are available at the back of church.
TICKETS, COSTING £10 EACH, ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE FLUTES OF LOVE CONCERT at St Andrew's on Saturday 31st July. A glorious evening of Early English Music and refreshing drinks & fresh fruit kebabs in the interval will make this an evening to remember.
CHOOSE YOUR FAVOURITE HYMN. The Friends of St Mary's are organizing another sponsored celebration of great hymns. Individuals are invited to nominate their favourite hymns - and the most popular will be included in the Evening Service at 6.00pm on the 4th July. The funds raised sponsoring this event will be put to the cost of automating the winding mechanism of the Tower Clock.
50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. On Saturday 5th June, Barnston Village Hall will host an Open Day to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the Hall. This is the only civic facility in the village, and plays an important part in providing space for community groups and family parties. Why not drop in sometime between 10.00am and 4.00pm and share in the festivities?
