THE  ALPHA  COURSE

Last Autumn Mark and I ran St. Mary's sixth ALPHA Course at St. Mary'sCentre. There were five ‘guests' on the course who met each week for eightweeks to share an excellent meal together; watch a DVD; and learn about theChristian faith in an informal and relaxed setting. We also enjoyed aninspiring talk on healing from Rosemary Drew at the end of the course. Mark andI would like to thank Rosemary very much; and also a big ‘Thank You' to JayAinge and Henry Goodman for all the excellent meals they have consistently providedover the past six courses; and to Patrick Whittick, for willingly helpingwhenever it was needed. Four of the five participants on the last course wantto continue meeting up, which is very encouraging.

Alpha

This year we have held two Alpha courses at St. Mary's. Our third Alpha was held from October (after Walk Roding) to January, on Thursday evenings at St. Mary's Centre. Four people started the course. One left half way through due to sickness at home, but has stayed in touch and hopes to come to our next course in September. The remaining three feel that have all progressed on their Christian journey - two now go to church, and are hoping to join our post Alpha home group; and one joined a business men's Bible study group near his home, before returning to America.

Alpha

Would you be interested in finding out more about the Christian Faith without having to go to Church? Then the Alpha Course could be for you!

The Alpha Course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It’s relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly and fun. Each session starts with a meal which gives course members an opportunity to get to know one another. After the meal there is either a brief talk or DVD on various aspects of the Christian faith. Then there is an opportunity for questions and discussion. Alpha is a place where you can ask anything. No question is too simple, sceptical or hostile. It’s a place to listen, learn, discuss and discover.
